The Growing Demand for Sustainability Expertise

Over the years, businesses have increasingly sought my insights on circular economy, sustainability integration, and material innovation. Having been in the green space since 2012 by implementing sustainable practices within my own business - my work gained attention from the media, industry leaders, and corporations exploring eco-friendly solutions.

What started as a curiosity about how an SME could implement sustainable manufacturing evolved into industry-wide interest from various sectors, including banking, telecommunications, manufacturing, agriculture, design, and policymaking. Organisations now approach me to:

• Turn their waste into new products or innovations.

• Understand how SMEs implement sustainability into their operations.

• Adopt sustainability features within their business models.

Unlike traditional sustainability consultants, my perspective comes from being an entrepreneur and business owner who has successfully integrated sustainable solutions while maintaining profitability. My experience is rooted in real-world implementation, facing daily operational challenges and developing practical, scalable solutions.

The solutions I provide are straightforward, cost-effective, and scalable - starting with small, meaningful changes that evolve into long-term benefits. With my manufacturing facility and network of experts, I offer firsthand experience in material innovation, R&D, and waste-to-product solutions, providing actionable strategies tailored to each business.

A CASE STUDY: FGV Holdings

One example is my collaboration with Global leader in agribusiness, focusing on sustainable palm oil FGV Holdings Berhad, a company that initially approached me for corporate gifts for their Sustainability Framework launch in 2024. After discussing their waste challenges, they shared that empty fruit bunches (EFB) were a major byproduct of their operations. Instead of traditional merchandise, we explored ways to repurpose this waste into meaningful, sustainable corporate gifts - shifting their approach to material use and sustainability integration.

From Manufacturer to Sustainability Advisor

My consultancy journey happened organically. Initially, businesses approached me for product development, but as sustainability gained traction, more organisations sought strategic guidance on integrating green practices into their operations. Through talks, roundtables, and panel discussions, I’ve been able to share my findings, fuelling industry-wide innovation.

Sustainability, to me, is not a competition - the more businesses adopt it, the greater the impact. I believe in knowledge-sharing to create lasting change, helping businesses move from awareness to implementation.

As a manufacturing business owner, I bring an inside-out perspective - understanding business operations at every level and solving sustainability challenges from the bottom up, ensuring solutions are practical, achievable, and results-driven.

1.ESG Brands Forum 2024: A Sustainability-Focused Consultation

As part of my sustainability consultancy services, I was engaged by the ESG & Brands Forum 2024 to provide practical sustainability strategies for planning and executing a more eco-conscious event. My role was to guide organisers in minimising waste, optimising energy efficiency, and integrating sustainable practices into all aspects of the forum.

I am honoured to serve as a Member of the Industrial Advisory Panel (IAP) for the Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Design (Honours) at the University of Technology Sarawak. This role allows me to bridge the gap between education and industry, ensuring that students are equipped with relevant, future-ready skills aligned with sustainability and industrial innovation.

As part of the IAP, I contribute to:

• Curriculum Development – Ensuring academic programs reflect real-world industry needs and sustainability trends.

• Skills Enhancement – Guiding the integration of hands-on learning experiences to prepare students for industry demands.

• Industry Linkages – Strengthening partnerships between the university and the business sector, fostering opportunities for research, internships, and career development.

By sharing practical insights and industry perspectives, I am pleased to contribute to shaping the next generation of designers, problem-solvers, and sustainability advocates.

3.Asia School of Business & Maybank – Leadership & Sustainability Learning

The Asia School of Business (ASB) & ASB Executive Education, in collaboration with Maybank Human Capital, sought to provide their leadership team with an immersive industry learning experience focused on sustainability, leadership, and business innovation.

I provided a comprehensive sustainability brief, outlining key initiatives such as sustainable event planning, waste reduction & circular solutions, sustainable sourcing, carbon footprint reduction and impact measurement & reporting .

This type of engagement is aimed to help businesses and organisations integrate sustainability into their operations and branding, reinforcing the importance of ESG-driven decision-making.

I had the privilege of hosting over 100 participants making up Maybank’s senior leaders, including managers, heads of departments, and directors from various divisions at my factory facility, The Green Factory. Their visit was designed to:

• Deepen their understanding of sustainability in business operations.

• Expose them to innovative leadership approaches in green manufacturing.

• Engage in an interactive dialogue on circular economy practices and ESG integration.

Through storytelling, case studies, and open discussions, the delegation gained firsthand insights into real-world sustainable business applications, reinforcing the importance of innovation, responsible leadership, and long-term environmental impact in corporate strategies.
