COLLABORATIONS

Co-Creating Sustainable Solutions for Lasting Impact

Since 2012, I have collaborated with businesses, institutions, and organisations to push the boundaries of sustainability, circular design, and waste innovation.

What began as providing eco-friendly furniture solutions evolved into partnerships for material innovation, product development, industry advocacy, and research initiatives. Through collaborations, I aim to create meaningful change, bridging gaps between industries, policymakers, and educators to integrate practical, scalable sustainability solutions.

Being open to new ideas and committed to innovation has enabled me to work with a wide range of industries including hospitality, oil & gas, telecommunications, electronics, banking, agriculture, and property development.

Why Collaborate?

Every collaboration presents an opportunity to:

Turn waste into valuable resources through material R&D.

Develop sustainable product lines that are both functional and aesthetically innovative.

Create industry-wide change by integrating circular economy principles into business operations.

Inspire stakeholders to rethink sustainability through engaging workshops, installations, and community outreach.

I believe that true sustainability is not just about compliance - it's about creating long-term, innovative solutions that align with both environmental responsibility and business growth.

notable collaborations

From upcycling corporate waste into high-value products to embedding circular economy strategies in business operations, these collaborations showcase the power of innovation, resourcefulness, and shared vision. Explore some of the impactful projects I’ve worked on.

1.The Datai Langkawi - The Datai pledge partnership

Since 2020, as part of The Datai Pledge - a comprehensive sustainability and conservation initiative by The Datai Langkawi -my collaboration with this prestigious hotel has evolved from an artist-in-residence program into a multifaceted sustainability partnership. Together, we've trained in-house carpenters to upcycle salvaged wood, developed sustainability strategies, and conducted guest workshops to educate visitors on Malaysia’s green innovations.

I am continually impressed by The Datai’s commitment to recycling waste into new products, from transforming food waste into soil for their gardens to upcycling wax, plastic, and glass into usable materials. In 2023, they achieved an impressive 96% zero-waste-to-landfill efficiency, successfully diverting 48,140kg of waste from landfills.

My team and I also developed 200 wooden covers from upcycled timber for The Datai Pledge Impact Report 2023, currently placed in each guest room, reinforcing eco-conscious messaging throughout the resort.

2.Farm Fresh – Transforming Logistics Waste into Sustainable Furniture

Recognising our shared sustainability goals, Farm Fresh engaged me to guide them in upcycling waste materials into functional furniture for the launch of their UPM farm park in 2022. We collected 2,460kg of discarded transport pallets and crates from their Muadzam Shah factory in Pahang, repurposing them into high-quality, custom furniture.

3.FGV Holdings Berhad: Transforming Waste into Innovation

When FGV Holdings Berhad approached me in late 2023 with a simple procurement request for corporate gifts, I encouraged them to rethink their waste stream as a resource. Instead of traditional giveaways, we explored ways to upcycle their own empty fruit bunches (EFB)—a byproduct of their palm oil operations.

2,460kg of Farm Fresh's discarded pallets and crates was transformed into new, custom furniture.

The salvaged materials were made into display racks, stools, tables, and other visual merchandising.

Sustainable materials used to construct Jom Cha outlets around 7 states across Malaysia.

Through innovation and material exploration, we developed a durable composite material by combining 67kg of EFB with polyester binding. This new material was then crafted into 28 trophies and 400 ornament boxes, paired with PEFC-certified wood for a refined, sustainable finish.

This project not only provided FGV with a meaningful, waste-reducing solution but also positioned them as a leader in circular economy practices within their industry.

Beyond this, we also worked on sustainable interiors for Farm Fresh's JomCha outlets across Malaysia, including Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Terengganu, Kelantan, and KL. Additionally, we collaborated with Majalah Kuntum to host a kids’ activity workshop at UPM farm park, educating children about green materials and upcycling.

This collaboration underscores Farm Fresh’s commitment to circular solutions, proving that waste can be reimagined into valuable assets.
